Tribute to the Blessed Ones

NOVEMBER 1
ALL SAINTS’ DAY
A simple tribute

“In honor of all the martyrs who died in groups and whose name were unknown as well as to all the Saints known and unknown especially to the modern day Saints in their own little way. Above is an Info graphic about November 1 as All Saints’ Day.”

All Saints’ Day is a church festival celebrated during November 1st in honor of all the Saints. According to experts and scholars, a Saint is someone who has been recognized having an exceptional degree of holiness, virtue and sanctity. In Christianity, the word “Saint” has a wide variety of meanings which depends on how it was used and traced back to the first believers who are “in Christ” or whom Christ dwells whether in heaven or on earth.

This has a very wide context in the church studies and I will leave it to the expert. But to make it simple, they are ordinary people who did good things while they were living on earth. In 837, Pope Gregory IV ordered its church-wide observance. This is a day in which churches glorify God for all God’s Saints known and unknown.

Ever wonder who is your birth Saint? Well, I once did and I found out that my birth Saint is Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary who is the mother of Christ. There are a lot of Saints that are commemorated everyday each month. You can look it up on Calendar of Saints online. Some says that if you pray to them, your prayers will be heard. I imagine it, making your prayers in the express lane for God to hear, something like that. Since, the Saints acts as a mediator between us and God.

Among the most popular Saints, I have chosen three most famous Patron Saints. Patron Saints are guiding or protecting saints of a person or a place.

1.       St. Michael the Archangel
The feast day of St. Michael the Archangel is on September 29. He is the patron for grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police and in times of sickness.

2.       St Jude Thaddaeus
The feast day of St. Jude Thaddaeus is on October 28. He is the patron for desperate cases.

3.       St. Therese of the Child Jesus
The feast day of St. Therese of the Child Jesus is on October 1. She is the patron of the missions.

In my opinion, everyone could be a Saint. The Holy Lives of these known and unknown Saints served as inspiration to all of us. And a lot of believers would pray and fight for the holiness of their revered Holy people to the Catholic Church. At this moment, I believe a lot are doing good things to their neighbors in spite the negative and bad news that we hear every day. You might also be looking for someone to do good things to you as well but why search if you can be that person you are looking for. One passage says, one little candle can bright up a dark room. Always be a blessing!
